Yet I remain a ‘French person on holidays’ for the British, mainly due to my strong accent, and ‘in exile’ for the French. I am an anthropologist by passion and academic training and I have now lived as long in the UK as I have in France, my birthplace. I moved to the UK in the 1990s as a PhD student, ready for a new adventure, and embraced a language for which I did not have particular talent, as German was my first love. I was born in the 1960s in Burgundy, but until recently had never experienced any great sense of French patriotism. Respect - As you begin to live the ideals of Peace, Love and Unity, respect seems to follow naturally, and can also be divided into several different aspects. It is the human condition that bonds us, and even our differences unite us under the 'human' banner.
Unity - As a result of the 'Peace and Love' that is described above, people involved in EDM culture try to spread the idea that we are all united as human-beings.
For others 'love' simply translates into a caring for those around you, as well as the environment that you are surrounded by. For some 'Love' can mean being open to experience, both mental and physical. Love can also be taken to mean 'love of others'.there is definitely a connection between the 'Free Love' movement in the 1960's and the EDM culture of today. When you enter into an EDM event you are encouraged to be yourself, and to not be ashamed of who that may be. Love - Again 'Love' can be taken to mean many different things within the EDM world. The 1960's mantra of "Peace not War" would really resonate with todays EDM culture. Violence is generally looked down upon within EDM culture, and is never seen as a solution to any problem. Peace can also mean the more external meaning, the more global understanding, of a world at Peace. They dress up in costumes and let their inner freak flag fly. Many people who attend EDM events are looking for an escape from their daily lives. For many people it represents an inner peace, a feeling of comfort of yourself as an individual. Peace - For those involved in the EDM world 'Peace' means a couple of different things. When you compare PLUR to PERMA (positive psychology's main tenants described previously), you begin to see that there are definite similarities and parallels.
